Center for reproductive medicine

For many couples, bringing life into this world is one of the most exciting aspects of their life journey as a unit. Unfortunately, for many women it isn’t that easy. In fact, infertility is a common experience among women trying to conceive, with around 11.8% of women receiving treatments for infertility in their lifetime and 12% of couples report having difficulty getting pregnant.
As far as causation goes, the reasoning gets split up fairly evenly, with around 33% attributed to female reproductive issues, 33% attributed to male reproductive issues, and 33% attributed to both. For both individuals, infertility can prove to be a painful and emotional thing to deal with.
Luckily, there are treatments that exist now that significantly increase the chances of conceiving. Check out these infertility treatments to see if one of them is right for you:

Artificial Insemination
Artificial insemination is a procedure done by inserting prepared sperm into the uterus. Typically, when a woman is artificially inseminated, she takes fertility drugs to make the likelihood of conceiving higher.

In Vitro Fertilization
Also known as IVF, this procedure is used for women with damaged Fallopian tubes. The IVF process entails taking the eggs from the female and fertilizing them with sperm in a lab setting. After the embryo develops, the doctor implants the embryo back into the uterus.

Surrogacy
When carrying a child is impossible for a woman, surrogacy is often an option. With surrogacy, another woman carries the female partner’s child using artificial insemination, carrying it to term. This is a well-known alternative, and can be seen in popular media and television shows. However, there is a down side to surrogacy, as it can often be psychologically trying, stressful to manage, and expensive.

If you have any questions as to which fertility treatment is right for you, defer to the help of any of your local fertility experts. Fertility experts have the experience and knowledge that will help you and your partner have the family you always dreamed of.
