Get some more sun – One of the best things you can do for your skin is give it plenty of vitamin D. The easiest way to do this is by getting regular sun, which can help your skin fight existing blemishes with the healing power of UV rays. But make sure that you don’t stay out in the sun for too long, because too much UV exposure can end up hurting your skin instead of helping it.
Cut down on certain foods – While your dermatologist is usually the one who makes the decisions about your skin, you may want to talk to a nutritionist, too. Certain foods have ingredients that could be inflammatory, and you may not have even known it. Obviously foods that are greasy will contribute to excess oil on the face, which can lead to additional breakouts. Talk to a nutritionist to see what other foods could be giving you acne.
Don’t touch your zits – When you’ve got active breakouts, the last thing you want to do is pick at/pop them. This could lead to further contamination of your pimples and even worse breakouts down the road. The best way to treat an active breakout is to leave it alone, and wash your face gently with some acne wash. It should go away on its own, and if it doesn’t, you should visit a dermatologist as soon as you can.
